It’s been a bit since I have posted. Like several years – so maybe more than a bit. So where have I been? Mostly on Instagram, but also raising my 3 boys and spending time with my family. I have also taken a bunch of amazing trips and shot some fabulous spaces. We bought a new house, moved to a different town and managed to furnish the house on the tiniest of shoestrings (a big thank you to IKEA and Target). All of this has been documented on my Instagram account, but it’s time to get back to my roots!
So now I am back to blogging! I have shifted my focus a bit and expanded my capabilities to include a niche in social media. It has been a total experiment with some failures and lots of successes. Why now? Why me? The answer is mostly, why not!? I have realized that there is a massive gap in social media influencers. There aren’t a lot of people in their mid 40’s who are opening themselves up and establishing themselves on Instagram. Yeah Yeah there are TONS of fashion bloggers and influencers – I know. I follow most of them, but you know what? Find me one in their 40’s! There aren’t a lot of middle aged moms trying their hand at social media marketing. Most of the beauty and fashion bloggers are in their 20’s and 30’s. If they are moms, their kids are all under 10. There are also lots and lots of stylists and interior designers who have built quite a following on Instagram, but from what I have found, there aren’t many who are shooting their own content. Most photographers just shoot and deliver images. They tend not to trend as an influencer. So there in lies my opportunity… A photographer who focuses on style (home, decor, lifestyle, travel, & mom style.) While I’m not always personally rocking the most hip and trendy looks (think messy bun, yoga pants and my kids’ flip flops), I do like to play a style maven on Instargam.
That brings me to the other feature of Instagram that I absolutely love…the Instagram stories. So while I promote this perfectly stylish and pristine life in my feed, if you click on my profile picture, you will get many little 10 second snippets of the behind the scenes. The REAL story of what happens in my house, in my car, with my kids and especially with my two French bulldogs, Chloe and Charlie. You will learn that I am NOT type A (I’m actually more like type Z), that while I used to be a gym rat, I am having trouble finding my groove here in my mid 40’s – but hopefully it will come soon since I just dropped a small fortune on a super fancy gym. You will see that I HATE folding laundry, that I love to contour my face (even if it’s just to go to Star Market), and that my dogs love Pipcorn.
So what’s the goal? The goal is to build my follower base, continue to shoot interiors, browse Target and Ikea on the regular, make pillows, dye fabric, sew random things, and maybe, just maybe, eventually partner with some bigger brands for projects. If you are remotely curious about what I’m up to and what this is all about, feel free to jump on board. If you’d like a personal review of what my stories are all about, you can just ask any of my kids’ friends. They are all along for the ride! Why on earth are 15 and 16 year old boys intrigued by my messy laundry room or my rave review of a new Target line? That is a very good question. You will have to ask them yourself. I can’t get a straight answer.
